Nagatanien Ochazuke is the packet that made ochazuke a household dish. Tear one sachet over a bowl of warm rice, pour hot water, and you have a light savoury rice soup in seconds. Nagatanien launched the first version in 1952 and the format has barely changed since. Each box holds six single-serve sachets.
Umeboshi is made with pickled plum for a sharp, salty-sour finish. Salmon uses flakes of dried salmon for a rounder, smokier bowl. Both contain roasted rice crackers and seaweed.
