Product Overview
Sakura invented the oil pastel. In 1925 the company combined the pigment load of a pastel with the binder of a crayon and called the result Cray-Pas, and the whole category that followed descends from that product.
Specialist is the professional grade in the line. Compared with the school-grade Cray-Pas, the pigment load is higher, the sticks are softer, and the colours blend into one another rather than sitting on top. This is the full 50-colour set.

Who It Suits
Working artists and serious amateurs. The softness that makes Specialist blend well also makes it crumble more readily than a school pastel, so it is not the set to hand a small child - the standard Cray-Pas exists for that.
How to Use
Works on paper, board, canvas and wood. Build colour in layers from light to dark, then blend with a finger or a stump. Oil pastels never fully dry, so finished work should be covered with glassine or fixative before stacking or framing.
Storage
Keep the box closed and flat, away from heat. Oil pastels soften in warm rooms and the sticks will deform if stored on end in summer.
